Acting as a valuable solution for your creative process when utilizing Sony digital cameras, Imaging Edge Desktop hits most of the key areas amateur and professional photographers look for in a reliable and efficient desktop tool.

First and foremost, the remote shooting feature is a crowd pleaser. With both wired and wireless connectivity (via Wi-Fi), the program offers creative flexibility for those utilizing this function. The live view experience offers a grid and overlay guides to assist in crafting your ideal shot composition.

The next component Imaging Edge Desktop comprises is Viewer, an excellent tool for browsing and rating RAW images. This function is particularly useful when paired with the remote and edit services. The viewer displays image data types like RAW and JPEG, and facilitates easy selection of images for further editing. The rating system, in tandem with the ability to batch edit, definitely enhances efficiency.

The last tool that Imaging Edge Desktop features is called Edit. Raw development is a game changer for photographers looking to fine-tune their shots. Brightness, hue, and white balance can be meticulously adjusted, catering to every photographer's specific needs. Additionally, ARQ-format images can be converted to other formats like JPEG and TIFF.

There's also a feature for creating time-lapse movies using still images captured during interval shooting. This kind of creative add-on really broadens the range of possibilities for photographers eager to dabble in videography. However, versatility comes with a learning curve. For new users, the interface may be slightly complex to navigate at first. Yet, given some time and practice, I am sure this is an aspect you can master.

As a minor critique, it would have been wonderful to have a wider range of cameras compatible with the feature set present. Currently, some of the advanced features like Composite RAW Shooting are only supported on α9 III. Expanding this would be a step further towards inclusivity, catering to a broader segment of photographers.

Overall, the Imaging Edge Desktop application is robust, full-featured, and an invaluable asset for any Sony users. Despite slight room for improvements, this is a piece of software that you will want to have in your creative arsenal.
